FMP Project Proposal

Candidate Name: Ronnie Richardson

Candidate Number: 10049423

Pathway: Game Design/Development

Project Title: Warfare: Estaybia

Rationale:

Throughout this year and the last I have completed 12 units. In these units, I have developed many skills relating to game design/development, as well as animation and management skills.

I have developed animation skills, including 2D, stop motion, and mainly 3D animation. I have also developed game design and development skills, such as concept production, coding, etc. I have also developed time-management skills and communication skills, as well as planning, research and other project-related skills.

With this development of skills, I believe that the next step is to create a larger project for my FMP, utilising the skills that I have spent over a year developing and learning. My previous FMP, a 10 minute animation, was the largest project that I had developed. However, now I will create an even larger, complete project. With the knowledge of my previous projects, what I have done well and what I need to improve on, I believe that I will be able to develop and create this project for the FMP.

Project Concept:

My concept for the FMP project is to develop a video game. I will both design and develop a first person shooter video game. This game will have the necessary game-play mechanics commonly found in the FPS genre of video games, such as gun-play, AI enemies, etc. I will develop a level for people to play, in which they will have a clearly defined objective, and will be able to play the game and defeat enemies and have fun.

I will need to research on many aspects of game design/development in order to aid me in this project. One of the biggest parts of this research will be the many different online tutorials, forums etc. that will aid me in developing the game using a game engine (Unity or Unreal).

I will need to use a computer, and have the necessary software, in order to design and develop my video game. I will need a game engine software, a 3D modelling software for my own assets. I will also require common drawing resources for concept art and planning, as well as image editing software to create digital concept art for the FMP.

I will aim to complete this project on time and to include all the features that I want. I will also complete this project with a high level of detail and create an outstanding project.

Evaluation:

I will be reflecting on my work throughout its development. I will complete both a final evaluation, as well as a mid-point evaluation. Both of these evaluations will be analytical of my progress and of the project.

The final evaluation will be after my project is completed, and will assess my methods and techniques, as well as my efficiency and the project as a whole. The mid-point evaluation will be completed in order to assess my progress halfway through the FMP and will allow to to assess the project as it is at the time and also help me decide if I need to cut ideas, and reduce the project scale as a whole.

During the FMP, I will be using an action plan/timetable in order to keep track of what I should be focusing on each week of the FMP. I will also develop a personal journal in order to track my day-to-day progress and write down my thoughts and feelings of the project. Along with these, I will also gain feedback from my peers and teachers in order to improve my project further.

Project Action Plan/Timetable:

With this, I will be planning my week-to-week objectives for the FMP. I will put down what I need in terms of resources, as well as putting the objective for each week. With this, I will be also filling out my personal journal for the day-to-day experiences and work.
